St Edmund Hall is delighted to announce that construction of the three new Passivhaus buildings, alongside the renovation of 17 Norham Gardens, remains on track for completion in April 2026.

Since Autumn 2025, both internal and external works have progressed significantly. The bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and internal corridors are now clearly taking shape, while the overall form of the buildings is emerging as cranes and scaffolding are dismantled.

From April to September 2026, attention will turn to landscaping the site. Plans include the creation of biodiverse gardens and an ecological pond, enabling the Hall to achieve an 88% net biodiversity gain. The landscape has been carefully designed to evolve over time, sustaining and encouraging rich biodiversity throughout its life. With strong biophilic principles at its heart, the scheme aims to support the psychological health, wellbeing, creativity and productivity of students, teaching and research staff, and visitors alike.

The Hall looks forward to welcoming its first cohort of students to Norham St Edmund in October 2026. Visit our latest progress page for the most recent photos of the development.
